Today I had lunch with my good friends Robert and Steve. I learned more about early Christianity and was more edified than I have been in the last six months at church. I learned the difference between Armenian and Calvinist. I saw two men who love the Lord, and live according to his Word, because they are saturated in the Word. I want to be like these guys. We talked about our vision of what church should be. I grew in the 3 hours that I spent with them. This is what fellowship is about, sharing, debating, discussing life and how our Christianity should affect our lives. I would love to have lunches like this every day.

Gatherings like the one you described – for me – are better than church services because there’s time and space for interaction, not just listening to one speaker for 40 minutes. That’s not a bad thing; it’s just not what I want anymore. I need to talk. In conversations with a couple trusted friends, we can wind our way towards true revelation: moments when we look at each other in amazement and go, “Oh… my… GOD!!!”
Give Robert my love next time you see him, okay? 21 days… =o)
Hi Rod, remember me, Pam Hogeweide from youth staff days at CBF? I actually stumbled into your site a few days ago and then I stumbled into RuthAnn and Daniel when I popped in at Goodwill.
I like your site. Great collection of books and I enjoyed checking out your reviews. How do you determine your rating system?
I’m posting on this particular entry because it speaks to where I’m at these days to. I have on my desk at this moment over 35 pages of notes from interviews with people who are discontent with the state of church, of Sunday morning, these days. I think the Spirit is moving, the winds of change are in the air and many people are feeling it. Thank God! I’d rather be restless in the pew than asleep in it!
Bless ya Rod and your family. I’ll pop by again sometime. Pam
