What I Read 7.8

Jesus in the Margins, Where a Church should be ministering

Jesus in the Margins, Finding God in the Places we ignore by Rick McKinley; 2005; Multnomah Publishers, Sisters, OR; 191 pages;284.4 dc22;7/14-7/15

This book coupled with what I read this week in Romans 12:9-21, have helped along with books by Erwin McManus and Mark Driscoll, show me where I think God wants me to minister and that is among the “unlovely”. The homeless, the AIDs patients, those with addictions, those in prison and anywhere that people are marginalized. I felt like I was reading this along with my good friend , Clark Blakeman, it was his copy and he had made notes in it as he went. I found myself wanting to talk through this notes with him as much as I wanted to talk to Rick about his ideas of church. RRRRR
