The Living Water will change you

Infidel, The Lost Books 2 by Ted Dekker; 2007;Thomas Nelson; Nashville, TN; 245 pages; 978-1-59554-363-9; 4/9-4/9

Yes I finished it in one day, that is how engrossing it is.  I didn’t realize how far into it I was until I had to shut the book to get off the train and checked the page number in case my book mark fell out.

All of the characters from the first book, Chosen,  are back.  Johniss becomes more of a leader after he repeatedly follows his heart right into traps.  He realizes that he must temper his heartfelt leadings with his head, also known as Silvie in this case.  Johniss repeatedly is lead into traps by the Horde but with the help of the Roush and his fellow travelers he is able to escape and make things somewhat better.  In a welcome twist he is confronted with his failures and the consequences of his action, which are rather severe.  Many times in books like this, the painful consequences are often glossed over to see the good which comes from them.  At the end of the book the forest people have gained much but have lost much.  The quartet of recruits has gained part of their mission but lost one of their number to parts unknown, which is the setup for book 3.  Again Dekker manages to tie this book to not only the others in this series but other books that he has written which at first did not seem like they were related to this story.  RRRR
