After the Apocalypse at Safeco Field

Armageddon’s Children by Terry Brooks; 2006; 371 pages; Del Rey Books, New York, NY; 0-345-48408-8;  7/2/09-7/4/09

Twenty four years ago I read the first three books published in the Shannara series, now there are some books that predate Sword of Shannara and seemingly will explain how Shannara came to be.  This book starts with the stories of several different characters who hopefully will all come together in some fashion.  Old sports complexes such as Safeco Field have become compounds in which some humans have taken refuge from the dangers around them.  Others have formed street gangs, and demons are corralling humans for slaves and experimentation.  Knights of the Word battle the demons and are used to protect those who especially need protection.  It will be interesting to see how the other two books bring us to Shannara.  A lot of action couple with the interpersonal relationships which makes us care about the action.  RRR
