The Secret Service keeps a secret.

Trust No One by Gregg Hurwitz; 2009; 341 pages; St. Martins’ Press, New York, NY; 978-0-312-59489-9; 7/24/09-7/26/09

Seventeen years ago, Nick Horrigans’ stepfather, Secret Service Agent Frank Durant was murdered.  Nick thinks that his teenage hormones were what got Frank killed.  18 years later the past comes back to haunt Nick, when he is dragged into a confrontation at a Southern California nuclear plant.  He follows clues back to what got his father killed and finds out who did it and it is not whom he expected.  The story has a twist at the end which seems to exist for the sake of having a twist.

I am usually a big fan of Mr. Hurwitz books, but I was left disappointed at the end.  Its’ like he came up with the ending and then thought how can I get there, the story is just too convoluted and things and witnesses just happen to appear when convenient.  RR
