A Man to be Admired!

True Compass, a memoir by Edward M. Kennedy; 2009; 532 pages; Twelve Books, New York, NY; 978-0-446-53925-8; Checked out from Multnomah County Library, Midland; A++; 1/16-1/12

For many years I was a dyed in the wool democratic hating republican.  The older I get and the more I read the more I am identifying with the Democratic party.  The personification of the ultra liberal wing of the Democratic Party was Teddy Kennedy. I decided to read a book by him,I found myself agreeing with him on many issues about how to get America back on Track.  When I found out he had a memoir coming out I put it on hold.  I wish that he was still alive so that I could write him and tell him how much I enjoyed this book.  This is one of those few books where it feels like you are sitting across from someone and just listening to them share their story with you.  Senator Kennedy talks candidly about his relationships and owns up to his mistakes, yes he even addresses Chappaquidick.  I have found a lot to admire in this man and the stands that he has taken.  This covers from his birth to just shortly before his death in August of 2009.  His relationship with his family is extremely important to him as is his faith.
