Hulk Hogan, My Life Outside the Ring by Hulk Hogan with Mark Dagostino; 310 pages; 2009; St Martin’s Press, New York, NY; 978-0-312-58889-2; Checked out from Multnomah County Library, Central; 2/17-2/18
The Hulkster is very candid and forthcoming in this volume. It is the first wrestler to have a biography without being affiliated with a wrestling company. He recounts his growing up in Tampa, his attempts at rock and roll, his work on the docks. He is forthcoming about his use of steroids and how he used them to further his wrestling career. He talks about his home life and how his marriage fell apart, he owns up to his own mistakes. He talks about the accident that Nick had and the fall out from that. He was given a copy of a book that has helped change his life and changed his outlook to a more positive one. I found it an interesting look at the life of a man who is a pop culture icon. Grade-B
