I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! But, I gave up on this series, for the same reasons, a couple of books back.

The situations aren't funny anymore--they just seem kinda pathetic. I want to grab Stephanie by the shoulders, shake her and shout, "Grow up a little, will ya!"

Truly incredible what Zamperini endured. When he finally gets home no one can understand his problems--this was before there was a TERM for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, but it did exist. I was so pleased when things finally turned around for him... cuz, I mean...poor guy.

Really enjoyed it as well.

Rod
This is the latest in a series. You should check out the earlier books in the series. They are just as good!

Great letter. I think you should send it to him and not just keep it as an 'Open Letter'.

Clearing out and giving things away feels great. Scott and I have been downsizing and simplifying for quite some time now and it's made such a difference to our outlook on life! Or maybe it's vice versa. Either way, the chicken or the egg, we feel better for living lighter. Have fun!

A friend of mine, Nancy , writes reviews of the books she reads on her blog (sound familiar?).

When she read/reviewed "A Visit From the Goon Squad", she said the book had too many characters and was too self-consiously hip.

I think those are valid criticisms but I still thoroughly enjoyed the book. I liked how one character would be just a minor aspect of one chapter and then the main character in the next chapter. I also liked the vision of the near future.

I give two enthusiastic thumbs up for this book; I really liked it.

I do want to give a spoiler: Oggy doesn't die. I've read too many (heartbreaking) books in which the dog dies.

I got the Nicholson/Sandler reference. "Anger Management" is a VERY FUNNY movie. I especially like the bit where Nicholson makes Sandler sing, "I Feel Pretty".
